IoT specialist Mike Fahrion named B+B SmartWorx CTO

Ottawa, IL – May 23, 2017 – B+B SmartWorx powered by Advantech has announced the appointment of Mike Fahrion, VP of Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies, as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the B+B SmartWorx business unit. Fahrion will assume this role in addition to his leadership of the Edge Intelligence Communications Product Division of the company.

This year marks Fahrion’s 26th year with B+B SmartWorx. He is a recognized industry specialist, thought leader, author and speaker on Industrial IoT subjects, as well as how to navigate connected products in the connected service journey.

“We’re entering into an exciting and transformative era of Connected Products and Connected Services,” said Fahrion. “I’m excited to be providing technical direction and working with our experienced engineering and product management teams in an effort to develop products and platforms that enable our customers to successfully navigate the challenges of the connected product journey.”

Fahrion has particular expertise in business critical connectivity solutions for devices deployed at the “edge” of networks in remote, harsh or uncontrolled environments. His technical skill—combined with a talent for simplifying complex issues—allows Fahrion to offer real-world solutions that drive innovation for engineers and managers.
