Cirrus Link Eco-Partnership Integration

B+B SmartWorx intelligent devices are compatible with numerous software and networking solutions to bring you the data you need, when you need it. Through working with eco-partners, our rugged devices are well-suited for various systems, such as Inductive Automation’s Ignition Edge MQTT. Ignition Edge MQTT is made and supported by Cirrus Link Solutions. Their vast knowledge of MQTT provides an ideal solution for transmitting MQTT from B+B SmartWorx devices to be compatible with Ignition.

Ignition Edge MQTT by Cirrus Link is software that turns virtually any embedded PC or field device, such as the B+B SmartWorx UNO pocket-size industrial PC, into a lightweight, MQTT-enabled, edge gateway. At B+B SmartWorx powered by Advantech we’re constantly looking for new data and networking solutions for our customers so you can get the most out of your data—and make it a painless process.

Need to integrate data from PLC & automation networks?

Get help with our Smart Factory Edge Gateway

The UNO model C-UNO2271-W10EDG-1 is a cost-effective, pocket-sized Smart Factory Edge Gateway that is fan-less and highly ruggedized for business critical and mission critical applications.

When running programs, such as Ignition Edge MQTT by Cirrus Link, UNO can connect with OPC-UA, MQTT Sparkplug-B, Modbus TCP, Siemens and Allen Bradley devices, supporting up to 500 tags. Data is seamlessly integrated with Ignition Edge using the MQTT Engine by Cirrus. The UNO can be used in combination with B+B SmartWorx sensor nodes to easily add sensor data. Additional IPC sizes are available, as well as size and configuration options, including C1D2, iDoor expansion modules. Learn more.

Why Sparkplug-B?

The UNO Smart Factory Edge Gateway from B+B SmartWorx supports the MQTT Sparkplug-B specification. Cirrus Link connects with the Inductive Automation Ignition Platform utilizing Cirrus Link MQTT modules. The Sparkplug-B specification provides necessary details for any MQTT-enabled device to connect to MQTT servers and integrate—all while bypassing configuration into Ignition via the Cirrus Link MQTT Engine Module. Learn more about MQTT Sparkplug-B specifications for zero integration with B+B SmartWorx enabled devices.

Take data from central Ignition to the cloud

Cloud Modules from Cirrus Link help bridge the gap between OT and IT. For example, AWS and Azure Injector modules provide connectivity to cloud infrastructure from tag data within the Ignition platform. This means you can easily take advantage of Big Data and analytics from the cloud to operate more efficiently. Learn more about Cloud Modules (AWS & AZURE).

The Internet of Things is Just Getting Started: Arlen Nipper of Cirrus Link

“It’s fantastic that B+B SmartWorx can bring their decades-long expertise of interfacing legacy and brownfield devices into the IIoT arena. With Ignition Edge running on UNO, customers will get a fast-track entry into better SCADA/operational solutions, while also laying the groundwork for future IIoT enablement. The UNO—in combination with MQTT technology on B+B SmartWorx lines of Wzzard, WISE, ADAM, SmartFlex and Industrial Ethernet Switches—produces a superior operational technology (OT) solution, while also providing the on-ramp to a superior IIoT infrastructure.”

Need to integrate sensors and I/O?

B+B SmartWorx offers wireless mesh, Wi-Fi and wired I/O

Wzzard Mesh Wireless Sensing

Wzzard Wireless Mesh Sensing NodesWzzard Sensing Nodes are tailor-made for bringing hard-to-reach sensor data into IIoT solutions, such as Ignition SCADA. Wzzard sensor nodes are battery powered and IP67- and C1D2-rated, making them easy to integrate even in harsh environments. They utilize SmartMesh IP, a self-forming, self-healing wireless mesh protocol that not only provides a highly-reliable and resilient network, but also one that’s easy to install. For example, Wzzard nodes self-populate into Inductive Automation Ignition using the MQTT Engine Module.

WISE-4000 Wireless I/O Modules

The WISE-4000 series has broad adaptability, making it a reliable source of big data that benefits its users in identifying next steps and actions to take. WISE can log up to 10,000 data samples with a time stamp; I/O data can be logged periodically, and when the I/O status changes. Once the memory is full, users can choose to overwrite old data, ring log or stop the log function.

ADAM-6000 Ethernet I/O Modules

The ADAM I/O modules utilize an Ethernet connection to connect sensors and I/O into Ignition. A wide variety of I/O types makes it easy to find an ADAM module for most any application. Modbus TCP protocol support makes integration easy.

Which Sensing Solution is right for your application?

Choose Wzzard when you’ve got a cluster of sensors in one facility or campus and take advantage of its wireless mesh technology.

Choose WISE when you can tie into an existing Wi-Fi infrastructure and have access to power for the node.

Choose ADAM when you have easy access to an Ethernet connection and power for the node.
